Welcome to our guide to tarot card meanings. Whether you have just picked up your first deck or you are looking for a quick reference during a reading, this section covers every card in the tarot.
Understanding the Tarot Deck
A standard tarot deck contains 78 cards, divided into two main groups. The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards numbered 0 to 21, representing major life themes, spiritual lessons, and significant turning points. These are the cards most people recognise — The Fool, The Magician, Death, The Tower — and they carry the most weight in a reading.
The Minor Arcana consists of 56 cards divided into four suits: Wands (fire and passion), Cups (water and emotions), Swords (air and intellect), and Pentacles (earth and material matters). Each suit runs from Ace to 10, followed by four court cards: Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
